Wide Receiver Sam Aiken Activated, Tom Brady’s Knee ‘Feels Good’

FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots completed their third training camp practice Friday morning on a beautiful day at Gillette Stadium.

Wide receiver Sam Aiken was activated from the non-football injury list and participated in his first practice, while Logan Mankins (holdout) and Derrick Burgess (considering retirement) continued as no-shows. Wide receiver Matthew Slater, who has had an impressive string of offseason practices, missed his first session for unknown reasons.

Wide receivers Wes Welker (physically unable to perform list) and Darnell Jenkins (NFI list), defensive lineman Ron Brace (NFI list), safety Bret Lockett (injured during Thursday's afternoon practice) and running back Thomas Clayton (unknown injury) all worked out on the sideline while 73 Patriots practiced.

Prior to practice, head coach Bill Belichick addressed Burgess' situation during his opening comments.

"Derrick, of course, wasn’t here [Thursday]," Belichick said. "We expected him to be here. He’s not here. This type of situation certainly isn’t unprecedented. We’ll just deal with it going forward. I’m not exactly sure that I know all the information that I need to know, so that’s what it is for now. We’ll just take that day-by-day."

Quarterback Tom Brady also addressed the media for the first time, saying his knee "feels good" and he wants to play for another 10 years.
