Brandon Marshall Gunning to Steal Wes Welker’s Throne as AFC East’s Top Wideout

To be the best, you have to beat the best.

And despite playing with basically one knee, Wes Welker is heading into the 2010 season as the AFC East's best wideout.

Perhaps the league's biggest offseason move was Brandon Marshall heading to South Beach to join the Dolphins. Marshall has been destroying secondaries in his last three seasons and has been able to find paydirt on a regular basis. But is Marshall on pace to take Welker's title as the division's most productive wideout?

Both of their last three seasons have been pretty comparable; in fact, both players have appeared in 46 contests apiece since the start of the 2007 campaign.

Welker has grabbed 346 receptions in the last three years — including a league-leading 112 in 2007 and 123 in 2009. Although he's found the end zone just 15 times in the last three years, he's picked up over 3,600 receiving yards.

Marshall, on the other hand, had been the Broncos' go-to guy on offense and has 23 touchdowns in his last three seasons to go with 307 catches for 3,700 yards.

Unlike Welker, Marshall won't have the benefit of a future Hall of Fame quarterback and wide receiver on the same offense. But because Tom Brady has the services of Randy Moss, this will likely take away from the looks Welker gets on Sundays, whereas Marshall is by far the top option Chad Henne has in Miami.

Will Marshall have a more productive season than Wes Welker?
