The Red Sox continued what figures to be a busy day as they signed third-round draft pick Sean Coyle just hours before the deadline to sign draft picks.

Coyle, a shortstop out of Germantown Academy in Fort Washing, Pa. has agreed to a $1.3 million contract according to Jim Callis of Baseball America.

Callis points out that Coyle's deal is worth far more than someone taken in his spot in the draft usually gets, but the Red Sox had to combat the fact that Coyle had committed to play college ball at North Carolina, where his brother is currently playing.

In his senior year of high school, Coyle hit .529 with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs. He's drawn comparisons to former Tar Heel and current Oriole infielder Brian Roberts.
