FOXBORO, Mass. — Tom Brady has a banged-up middle finger on his right hand, which may make it difficult for him to gesture toward Boston drivers, but it won’t quarantine him in a medical ward.
“I don’t think it’s life-threatening,” Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said Sunday morning before the Patriots’ walkthrough practice at Gillette Stadium.
Brady wacked the digit on a helmet while following through on a throw during Thursday’s preseason opener against the Saints, and he was reportedly spotted with his fingers taped together Saturday. It’s not the same finger he injured during practice last season.
When asked if the injury was “game-threatening,” Belichick quipped that the first injury report won’t be released until Sept. 8, which will be “like Christmas” for him.
