Adrian Beltre Returns to Lineup While David Ortiz, J.D. Drew Get Night Off

Adrian Beltre has returned to the Red Sox lineup while lefties David Ortiz and J.D. Drew begin the game on the bench as the club takes on the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.

Beltre, who leads the team in games played with 144, missed Sunday's win over Toronto with a sore left wrist/hand suffered in a dive for a ball Saturday night. He was given a clean bill of health after a battery of tests at Massachusetts General Hospital on Sunday.

The presence of Orioles left-hander Brian Matusz is enough to cause Boston manager Terry Francona to put Ortiz and Drew on the bench. Matusz is 2-0 with a 2.55 ERA in four starts against the Sox this year and has held lefties to a .237 average this year.

The shuffle moves Victor Martinez to first base, gives Mike Lowell a rare start at designated hitter and moves Jason Varitek behind the plate for his second start since coming off the disabled list.

Ryan Kalish, batting ninth, is the only left-handed bat in the batting order for Boston.

With Daisuke Matsuzaka pitching, here is the complete Red Sox' lineup:

Marco Scutaro, 2B
Darnell McDonald, RF
Victor Martinez, 1B
Adrian Beltre, 3B
Mike Lowell, DH
Jed Lowrie, SS
Bill Hall, LF
Jason Varitek, C
Ryan Kalish, CF
