David Ortiz, Mike Lowell, J.D. Drew Look to Continue Success Against Andy Pettitte

The Red Sox will start a load of veterans in the opener of a three-game set with the New York Yankees on Friday.

While manager Terry Francona said this week he would not shy from continuing to start his youngsters in this series, he will have one of the oldest lineups possible.

Marco Scutaro returns to the leadoff spot after a game off. Mike Lowell gets the nod at first base. And the outfield of J.D. Drew, Darnell McDonald and Bill Hall are all at least 30.

Given the veteran group, several Sox starters have plenty of experience against Andy Pettitte, who is on the mound for the Yankees. David Ortiz, who is batting sixth, is a career .365 (19-for-52) hitter against Pettitte. Lowell and Drew are a combined .338 (23-for-68).

Here are the complete lineups for both teams:

J.D. Drew, RF
Victor Martinez, C
Adrian Beltre, 3B
