Jarrod Saltalamacchia Copies Kevin Youkilis With Own Season-Ending Thumb Injury Dr. Thomas Graham has been far too busy a man in 2010 — as far as the Boston Red Sox are concerned. Graham has performed season-ending thumb surgeries twice for the Red Sox this season, first for Kevin Youkilis, and now for Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

Saltalamacchia, who apparently injured his thumb while still in the Rangers' minor league system, played through the ligament and joint problem for months before finally going under the knife on Tuesday. He is expected to be ready for 2011.

Otherwise, the Red Sox injury situation remains unchanged with five games left in the season. Dustin Pedroia, Mike Cameron, Jacoby Ellsbury, Junichi Tazawa and Felix Doubront are all out for the year.

Doubront, though, does hope to pitch a side session in the bullpen prior to the end of the season.
