Red Sox Injury Situation Finally Stable After Tumultuous Year

Mike Lowell
and Marco Scutaro are playing out the season — and in Lowell's case, his career — as walking wounded, but for the first time in a long time, there is little new to report in terms of infirmed Red Sox.

With Jason Varitek returning to the active roster, the team officially only has players in two categories: those playing, and those out for the remainder of the season.

Dustin Pedroia is recovering from foot surgery, and Kevin Youkilis, Jacoby Ellsbury, and Mike Cameron are done for the year as well.

With these big names off the field, Sox prospects like Lars Anderson, Josh Reddick, and Ryan Kalish are getting chances to perform, which they surely have done recently.

Reddick has hits in each of his September appearances.

Hideki Okajima, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Kevin Cash, and Eric Patterson continue to be healthy after their DL stints.
