The 24th pick of the 2004 NBA draft is about to return to the team that took he started with.
The Celtics have reportedly agreed to reacquire free-agent guard Delonte West, reports ESPN.com
West, who was waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this offseason, will miss the first 10 games of the season due to a weapons possession conviction in Maryland for which he served home detention.
His contract will not be guaranteed.
West will be joined by Marquis Daniels, Avery Bradley, Nate Robinson and Von Wafer as back-court options on the Celtics bench.
Primarily a shooter, West's best year came in 2008-09 when he averaged 40 percent from behind the arc and scored 12 points per game. He started at shooting guard that year for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and has been a starter for the better part of three seasons in his six-year career.
West will back up Ray Allen at shooting guard, and will likely provide the strongest combination of talent and experience among Celtics guards on the bench.
