Last year, Sports Illustrated picked the Boston Bruins to win the Stanley Cup. A yearlong battle with injuries and lack of scoring derailed those plans, as the B’s suffered a brutal postseason collapse against the Phildelphia Flyers.
Yet, life goes on, and the Bruins look as strong as ever as they head into the new season. Bringing back all the key players from last season and adding a young playmaker like Tyler Seguin, the B’s should be very confident of their chances in a wide-open Eastern Conference.
Of course, being without their top-line center Marc Savard for at least the start of the season won’t make things easy, but the team has enough defense and goaltending to compete with every team every night of the week.
Though a lot will happen between now and June, it’s never too early for predictions. Do you think the Bruins will bring Lord Stanley’s Cup back to Boston this season?
