Ben Roethlisberger Attracts Protesters Prior to First Game Back from Suspension

Ben Roethlisberger had a big game on Sunday, but not every Steelers fan at Heinz Field appreciated it.

The Pittsburgh quarterback attracted a small group of protesters outside the Steelers’ home field during the Sunday’s game against the Browns on Sunday.

About 20 protesters gathered, holding up signs with messages such as “Steelers fans against sexual assault” and “Stop supporting rapists,” according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The protesters were angry that the NFL let Big Ben back onto the field after he was accused of rape in March by a 20-year-old college student in Georgia. Roethlisberger was not charged for his alleged acts.

Sunday’s game was Roethlisberger’s first of the season, after the NFL suspended him for four games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

The group was heckled by “hundreds of Steelers fans,” according to the newspaper.

Roethlisberger led the Steelers to a 28-10 win over Cleveland, passing for 257 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.
