Delonte West, Von Wafer Throw Punches in Locker Room After Intense Three-On-Three Game

When there’s smoke, there’s usually fire.

After tensions flared earlier this week between Celtics reserve guards Delonte West and Von Wafer, reports indicate that the two men came to blows Friday, needing to be separated.

This does not bode well for West’s future in Boston.

According to HoopsWorld’s Alex Kennedy, the two players were mired in another intense game of three-on-three after a team meeting, just as they had been Sunday when conflict first arose between the two players.

Wafer tried to walk away when things turned ugly with West, but Kennedy reports that West followed Wafer into the locker room and threw the first punch, instigating the fistfight.

Kennedy says that the Celtics are now considering releasing West, who is on a non-guaranteed contract and is ineligible to play for the season’s first 10 games because of weapons charges leveled against him last season.

The trouble just keeps coming for West, who battles a combination of depression, bipolar disorder and other mood disorders. The Celtics took a risk this summer when they signed the unstable 27-year-old to a one-year contract, and it now appears that their gamble hasn’t panned out.
