Indian Company Venky’s Ready to Purchase Blackburn Rovers

In the wake of NESV’s purchase of Liverpool, another Premier League team is ready to finally be taken over.

Blackburn Rovers has been for sale for almost two years, and now an Indian poultry company is in the final steps of acquiring the club, according to The Associated Foreign Press.

Venkateshwara Hatcheries, or simply, Venky’s, has met with Blackburn chairman John Williams, and he claims there have been a series of meetings and that an “extensive” due diligence process has already taken place.

"Both parties are hopeful that the transaction will be completed in November," Williams said in a statement.

Venky’s chairperson, Anuradha Desai, is very excited to make the Rovers the first Indian-owned Premier League team.

"We expect to be the first Indian company to acquire a Premier League team and we are particularly delighted that the team is Blackburn Rovers, with whom we believe we have many shared values and ambitions," Desai said.

According to Yahoo, Venky's is Asia's largest poultry group and has an annual turnover of 1 billion pounds. In 2009, it recorded a profit of 118 million pounds.
