LeBron James’ Poetry Contest Fits Hoop Star’s Ego Nicely

LeBron James plays basketball so well, you might say it’s poetic. So poetic, in fact, that The Miami Herald is currently running the LeBron James Poetry Contest.

The rules are simple and should feed LeBron’s ego nicely:

• Poem must commemorate the arrival of Lebron James to Miami.     
• The poem can utilize any poetic form (haiku, rhyming couplets, limerick, free verse, etc.) but  cannot exceed six lines (LeBron’s jersey is No. 6).
• There is no limit to the number of poems you can submit.
• The entry must be received by Friday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m.
• Employees of WLRN, the Miami Herald and the Miami Poetry Collective are not eligible.

Here’s one potential entry:

Cool Kids moved to Chicago for dollars like Ben Wallace
But LeBron took his talents to Miami in search of solace
Made the “Decision” to leave without any marketing knowledge
And Bosh followed too, paying LeBron homage
Now the trio in Miami is hoping for basketball dominance
Still begs the question: Does LeBron have a conscience?
