Liverpool FC is eyeing a Russian addition to their line of attack.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, scouts from Liverpool were in the stands watching 27-year-old striker Alexander Kerzhakov score for Russia against Ireland last week. That performance follows two hat tricks tallied by Kerzhakov for his club, Zenit St. Petersburg, last month.

Liverpool is aiming for a January acquisition of the talented striker, and has reportedly discussed a bid of £6 million (approx. $9.4 million) for Kerzhakov. They have also requested further video footage of the international star. The Reds are especially interested since they are seeking an experienced scorer who can play the right side like Kerzhakov can.

Kerzhakov is in his second stint with Zenit, a club he rejoined in January of 2010 after playing a year with Dinamo Moscow. He signed a three-year contract with Zenit upon return, and it's been speculated that the club will be reluctant to let him go.

Through 22 appearances with Zenit this season, Kerzhakov leads the team with 10 goals.
