Managers React to Wayne Rooney Controversy, Believe Sir Alex Ferguson Will Make it Work

Wayne Rooney has sent the soccer world into a frenzy with his recent comments about his club, Manchester United.

Now other managers are responding to the star striker’s request to leave the renowned organization.

Alex McLeishm, Birmingham City manager, trusts that Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester’s revered manager, will be able to work through the current predicament.

"I am amazed that Wayne Rooney wants to leave Manchester United. He is still young and he has got years ahead of him," McLeishm said, according to The Guardian. "It is not my business but Sir Alex knows the best way to handle it. There is no better man to handle a situation like that than Sir Alex."

Rooney has not been playing his best of late, and Owen Coyle, Bolton’s manager, thinks this is contributing to his frustration with the club.

"I truly hope that Wayne Rooney remains a Manchester United player," said Coyle. "I think we all accept that he is having an indifferent time in terms of his form, but it only takes one touch and finish for that confidence to go pumping through his veins again and for him to show his quality, because he is truly an outstanding player."

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez believes Fergie will work something out.

"I think that's the price of having such a high-profile league. The Premier League has got that status around the world, the players are well-known. They are becoming more than footballers," Martinez was quoted as saying. "But I think Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson have got enough experience and importance and everything that goes with it to deal with the situation."

It is unclear what Manchester United will do with the disgruntled Rooney, but the star will garner plenty of interest. Clubs rumored to be interested in his services already include rivals Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
