Allard Baird may become the latest member of the Red Sox front office to move on to greener pastures.

Baird, the scouting director for the Red Sox and former Royals general manager, was the first of four candidates that have been announced to interview for the vacant Mets general manager position.

The Mets opened their interview process with Baird, who met with chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon, acting GM John Ricco and a number of other Mets executives at Citi Field.

Baird was in the Kansas City organization for 18 years before being let go in 2006.

Along with Baird, Chicago White Sox assistant GM Rick Hahn is scheduled to interview with the Mets on Tuesday and former A’s GM Sandy Alderson will interview later this week.

Former Diamondbacks GM and Red Sox assistant GM Josh Byrnes will interview Thursday.
