Report: Liverpool Looking to Acquire Tottenham Midfielder Niko Kranjcar

In an ongoing effort to boost their struggling offense, Liverpool has reportedly asked about the availability of Tottenham midfielder Niko Kranjcar.

Kranjcar, 26, has been with Tottenham since 2009, played with Portsmouth from 2006-2009 and is also a member of the Croatian national team.

According to a Metro.com report, Kranjcar is eager to leave Tottenham because of the lack of playing time he’s received thanks to the presence of Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart.

Harry Redknapp, the Spurs’ boss, acknowledged that Kranjcar doesn’t get enough playing time earlier this month when asked about the possibility of adding Aston Villa winger Ashley Young to his roster.

“We've got Gareth Bale, what would I do with [Young]?'' Redknapp asked ESPN. “I can't get Nike Kranjcar on the pitch; he's a fantastic player.”

"I feel sorry for Niko. He goes and gets three goals for his country in two games and I can't get him on the pitch.''

Liverpool would be an excellent fit for the offensively-gifted Kranjcar, but the Croatian midfielder won’t come cheaply, as Tottenham has been estimated to value him at around £7 million.
