Recari took home the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge on Sunday, winning by one stroke for her first championship on tour.
Despite hailing from Pamplona, Spain, Recari has never participated in the running of the bulls, citing that the event is far more dangerous than people realize. She also bucked the Spanish trend of choosing soccer as her sport of choice — even though her father was a soccer coach.
When her father retired from soccer to become a businessman, he chose golf as his phsyical activity of choice, and used his 11-year-old daughter as his caddy. After just one month of carrying his clubs, he took her to the Spanish Championships, where she shot a solid 100.
Still, she was hooked, and 12 years later, she has not only been anointed as one of golf’s starlets, appearing in numerous online photo galleries, but she’s a champion too.
