The San Antonio Spurs are heading to Mexico City — a very small part of it, at least.
The Spurs are set to take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night in Mexico City in an exhibition game, and with parts of Mexico currently plagued by drug-related violence, the Spurs and Clippers will have extra NBA security protection.
The NBA has advised players and team staff to remain within a 100-foot radius of their hotel in downtown Mexico City.
"I'm going to try to experience as much of the culture as I can without leaving the hotel room," Spurs forward Matt Bonner told mysanantonio.com, "because we're not allowed to."
The NBA expects a sellout crowd of 20,000 at the game, which marks the 19th game in league history in Mexico City.
