Scoring a goal off of one’s crotch is not something that the Philadelphia Flyers or any team in the NHL practices, but what they do practice is having quick reactions to passes or shots from teammates.
Philadelphia Flyers right winger Claude Giroux was camped in front of the net when a shot from teammate Chris Pronger came whizzing toward the goal. The shot deflected off Giroux’s crotch area and was nudged in by his midsection before getting by Capitals goalie Michal Neuvirth.
When asked in between periods where the puck hit him exactly, Giroux explained that it wouldn’t be appropriate to say.
“I don’t think I can say that word on TV,” he said, “but, uh, it hit a part of my body.”
