Report: Metrodome Unable to Host Vikings-Giants Game, Ford Field Likely Alternative

The snow-induced roof deflation incurred by the Metrodome will be too much for the game to occur at the venue, the NFL has revealed.

According to ProFootballTalk, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello has ruled out a game at the Metrodome — even if it were played Tuesday. Instead, the University of Minnesota stadium and other NFL domes are being considered as alternatives.

The NFL has reportedly already contacted representatives at Ford Field in Detroit. There are no scheduling conflicts at the stadium, and FOX will already have a television crew in place at the venue to cover the game.

Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis may also be considered.

The University of Minnesota stadium is outdoors, which would prove difficult given the inclement weather in the area. The Giants also did not travel with their cold gear, meaning the team would have to scramble to prepare for the game.
