Report: Tim Tebow to Keep Broncos Starting Quarterback Job Through End of Season

Tim Tebow compiled a rare stat line on Sunday, throwing for just 138 yards through an entire game, but doing so with a QB rating over 100 in the process.

Tebow’s 8-for-16 efficiency, though, appears to have been enough to wrestle the starting job away from Kyle Orton. While Orton may be able to return from his rib injury this coming week against Houston, Tebow will likely be under center come Sunday, according to the Denver Post.

Tebow threw one touchdown on Sunday — he should have had two, should a wide open Lance Ball not have inexplicably dropped a pass in the endzone. He also ran for 78 yards and a score in what was largely a mistake-free outing for the former Florida star.

Generally speaking, Orton hasn’t been poor enough to earn a benching. He has thrown 20 touchdowns with an 87.5 rating this season — though much of his statistical achievement has come in “garbage time.”

The Broncos will play their final two games at Invesco Field in Denver, giving beleaguered Broncos fans a chance to see the man that their former head coach Josh McDaniels considered to be their future.
