Report: Yankees Discuss Adding Manny Ramirez

In October of 2003, when the Red Sox placed Manny Ramirez on irrevocable waivers, it was the biggest fear of many Red Sox fans that the slugging left fielder would go to the Yankees.

Now? It would just be funny.

Despite that being the case, the Yankees have held "internal discussions" regarding the 38-year-old, according to the YES Network's Jack Curry.

Discussions, however, are just discussions, and Curry reports that the "chance of deal is less than chance with [Johnny] Damon, which is also unlikely."

"Just because Yanks talked about Ramirez doesn't mean anything will happen," Curry wrote on Twitter. "They discuss all [free agents] that fit a need. [Right-handed outfielder] is a need."

Still, with his average, slugging percentage and OPS all at or near career lows last season, the idea of Manny in pinstripes won't exactly strike fear into Red Sox Nation this winter.
