Correcting his previous comments regarding moving Jeter to the outfield during a WFAN sponsored breakfast held on Tuesday at the Hard Rock Café in New York, Cashman spoke with the New York Post on Wednesday to settle what he said was "taken out of context."
"We signed him to be our shortstop," Cashman told the Post. "It’s as simple as that. If adjustments have to be made we’ll deal with it when that day occurs, if it ever occurs."
Cashman claims he was only hypothetically speaking about the situation 24 hours earlier.
"He’s our shortstop," Cashman said, according to Newsday. "Do we have any plans on moving him to the outfield? No."
