Orioles Pursuing Vladimir Guerrero

The AL East could soon have yet another star in its midst.

Vladimir Guerrero and the Baltimore Orioles are reportedly working on a contract to bring the designated hitter to Camden Yards this upcoming season, according to ESPN’s Buster Olney.

Olney tweeted Friday: “O’s settled with their position in the Vlad talks.O’s want him at their price(package $4.5-5 m.).If not, they’ll live with it.”

Orioles beat writer Brittany Ghiroli also added via Twitter that there is “No timetable on Vlad.”

The 35-year-old would not be the first addition to the Orioles line up this winter. Earlier this offseason, the team acquired first baseman Derrek Lee, third baseman Mark Reynolds and shortstop J.J. Hardy.

Their projected line up will surely be far more talented than in recent years.

“O’s really like depth in possible lineup with Vlad: 2B Roberts, CF Jones, RF Markakis,DH Vlad,LF Scott,1B Lee,3B Reynolds,C Wieters,SS Hardy,” Olney also tweeted.

Last season, Guerrero had a .300 batting average with 29 home runs and 115 RBIs in a comeback year with the Texas Rangers.

He also has had great success at Camden Yards during his career. In 32 games there, he has a .333 batting average, nine home runs and 30 RBIs.
