Fresh off a statement victory over the Lakers, Paul Pierce is sitting back and making some wishes. Chief among them: a 3-point shootout with Ray Allen at All-Star weekend.
"I think me and Ray Allen need to have a shootout in this years 3pt contest what y'all think come on NBA make it happen," Pierce tweeted on Monday.
Last year in Dallas, Pierce won the 3-point shootout, becoming the first Celtic since Larry Bird to take home the honors. Meanwhile, Allen is closing in on the all-time record for 3-pointers made in a career. He went 3-for-7 from beyond the arc on Sunday, putting him just 12 3's shy of Reggie Miller's record 2,560 3-pointers.
Allen didn't compete in last year's event, however, so adding a bit of friendly competition to this year's event — at the request of the defending champ, no less — would be a rather smart thing for the league to do this year in Los Angeles, where neither Celtic will be applauded. Given that Allen, barring a disaster, will own the all-time record by then, it would also be a nice way to show appreciation to one of the game's great shooters.
