Update: Liverpool has announced that the club has agreed to sell Ryan Babel to Hoffenheim.

11:45 a.m. ET: Ryan Babel was fined £10,000 on Monday for tweeting barbs at referee Howard Webb. On Tuesday, he declared his interest in a loan move to Ajax as part of the Luis Suarez deal. Thereafter, reports surfaced of his £5.8 million transfer to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.

According to German publication Bild, Babel is currently undergoing medical tests with the club, and owner Dietmar Hopp has said that the transfer is complete.

"We needed a striker because of the imminent departure of Demba Ba and the injury to Chinedu Obasi. Babel was the attacker we really wanted and sporting director [Ernst] Tanner is convinced he’s the right man for us," he said.

Tanner, though, has been quoted as saying that the deal is not yet done.

"Nothing is on the safe side yet," Tanner told Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung. "There are still details to be discussed.

"Right now we are far away from achieving an agreement," he summarized.

According to Goal.com, however, while neither club has yet confirmed the transfer, they are expected to do so later today.

Babel came to Liverpool from Ajax for £12 million in 2007.
