The Tampa Bay Lightning, apparently unhappy with those "Bolts" third jerseys, are making a jersey and logo change.
The team made the announcement on Monday, though the new jerseys won't be worn until next season.
"This is a great day for the Lightning, our fans and the Tampa Bay community," Lightning chairman and governor Jeff Vinik told Lightning.NHL.com. "The logo change is very emblematic of our new direction."
The team sad that the four words to inspire the new designs were "bold," "classic," "iconic" and "hockey-centric," but really, it's surprising that "anything but those Bolts jerseys" didn't make the cut.
Here's a look at the new jerseys and patch, from Lightning.NHL.com.
