Derek Jeter’s New House Biggest in County, Requires Amending Law

You may have heard of Derek Jeter's new humble abode in Tampa, Fla.

What you may not have heard is the story surrounding the construction on the department store-sized mansion.

Jeter lobbied the area's city council to modify existing legislation so that his six-foot wall could become a reality, but was instead granted an exemption, allowing the wall. Jeter's lawyer argued that the wall was necessary, as there were already "traffic problems and gawkers," according to DIBuzz.com.

The decision didn't come as much of a surprise, seeing as Jeter has been a resident of the Tampa area since 1994, along with many other Yankees, notably the late George Steinbrenner

The house, which cost $7.7 million to construct, features two three-car garages, among other lavish amenities.
