Mike Fisher Traded to Predators for Pair of Draft Picks

Scratch one potential trade target off Peter Chiarelli‘s list.

Center Mike Fisher was traded Thursday to the Nashville Predators, with the Ottawa Senators receiving a pair of draft picks in return (2011 first-rounder, 2012 conditional pick).

With Marc Savard out of the Bruins’ lineup for the remainder of the year (and possibly beyond), Fisher was thought to perhaps be on the team’s radar leading up to the Feb. 28 trade deadline.

Fisher’s been a Senator since the 1999-200 season, and from 2005-10, he scored more than 20 goals in four of five seasons. His contract, which carries a $4.2 million cap hit, runs through the 2011-12 season.

Nashville currently sits second in the Central Division and fifth in the Western Conference. Fisher’s 14 goals rank him third on the Preds’ roster, which is in need of some finishers.
