NHL Trade Rumors Live Blog: Eric Brewer Reportedly Heading to Tampa Bay Lightning

6:03 p.m.: According to hockeybuzz.com, two Canadian teams are very interested in Panthers center Stephen Weiss. Apparently, the Canadiens and the Maple Leafs have both indicated interest in Florida's centerman.

Hockeybuzz also mentions the interest that is humming around Dallas forward Brad Richards. According to the trade report, the Maple Leafs are prepared to make a big run at Richards, looking to outspend everyone for the prolific scorer.

5:51 p.m.: According to NESN's Kathryn Tappen, Chiarelli indicated after the news conference that Kaberle was interested in re-signing with the Bruins after the 2010-11 season is over.

5:50 p.m.: The toughest move, according to Chiarelli, was moving Joe Colborne. His youth and energy within the Bruins' system was exciting to watch, and it was tough to trade him away.

5:43 p.m.: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli discussed the blockbuster trade at a recent news conference, and told reporters that the Bruins are basically "done" with moves before the deadline, and if they do make another trade, it will be a small one.

Chiarelli added that they needed a player like Kaberle on their team.

4:36 p.m.: A potent Lightning team just got stronger, as Eric Brewer is heading to Tampa, according to TSN.

St. Louis receives defenseman Brock Beukeboom and a draft pick.

4:01 p.m.: There figures to be a rather different air when two general managers take the podium in their respective cities on Friday night.

Peter Chiarelli, likely a happy guy, will be meeting with the media at 4 p.m. in Boston, while his counterpart in Toronto, Brian Burke, will be explaining why the team moved a superstar to a division rival.

3:31 p.m.: Apparently, hockey teams exist outside of Boston and Toronto, as the Sharks and Hurricanes have agreed to a deal.

Ian White will go to to San Jose, while Derek Joslin will go to Carolina, according to several reports. The deals are separate transactions, but that's the long and short of it.

2:47 p.m.: At long last, it's official. Tomas Kaberle is a Boston Bruins.

Kaberle is expected to join the Bruins for Friday night's game in Ottawa, the team announced.

2:28 p.m.: The Bruins have officially announced the Atlanta trade. Still waiting on official world on Kaberle.

2:21 p.m.: The news has been out there for quite some time, but the teams involved (Atlanta, Toronto, Boston) may be contacting the players affected before making an official announcement.

Either way, TSN's Bob McKenzie is exhausted from a busy Friday.

"OK, no trades for awhile please," he tweeted. "Gotta get behind the wheel and do some driving. No tweeting for awhile."

1:46 p.m.: What an insane hour of trade news.

Here's the brief rundown, according to several reports:

Tomas Kaberle will be traded to Boston in exchange for the B's first-round pick in 2011, Joe Colborne and a conditional draft pick.

The Bruins traded Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart to Atlanta for Rich Peverley and Boris Valabik.

TSN's Bob McKenzie has been at the center of all this news.

1:16 p.m.: Before the Kaberle-to-Boston deal was finished, the Bruins had to clear some cap space first.

According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, the B's traded Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart to Atlanta in exchange for Rich Peverley and Boris Valabik.

Read the news story here.

1:03 p.m.: McKenzie also reported that the Bruins have not had any extension talks with Kaberle as of yet.

12:59 p.m.: The trade call is under way at the moment, according to Bob McKenzie.

12:35 p.m.: Adam Kaufman has reported from Providence that Joe Colborne was at the Dunkin Donuts Center on Friday morning as rumors continue to swirl around the 21-year-old.

12:20 p.m.: There's been no actual movement on the Kaberle deal just yet, aside from every reporter under the sun confirming the earlier report.

TSN's Darren Dreger said the deal will happen "soon," while Bob McKenzie said Kaberle has already been asked to waive his no-trade clause.

"It looks as though Tomas Kaberle has been asked to waive his NTC to go to BOS and there is every reason to believe he will waive it," McKenzie tweeted.

11:15 a.m.: In news that shockingly does not involve Tomas Kaberle, the Senators and Avalanche have agreed to a goalie trade.

Craig Anderson will head to Ottawa, while Brian Elliot will go to Colorado. TSN reported the trade, which is Ottawa's fourth in a little over a week.

11:00 a.m.: The Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa also reports that a Kaberle deal to Boston is "all but done," echoing that it'll be a first-rounder and Joe Colborne going to Toronto.

10:14 a.m.: Damien Cox of The Toronto Star has joined the Kaberle fray, reporting that Kaberle could be a Bruin as early as Friday night.

Cox reported that the B's would send their own first-round pick (not the one they got from Toronto in the Phil Kessel deal) and a prospect. Cox also specifically said that Blake Wheeler would not be sent to Toronto. Cox speculated that prospects Joe Colborne and Ryan Spooner are the players Brian Burke covets.

9:46 a.m.: You know, there aren't too many juicy rumors floating around just yet, so here, watch a hockey fight.

Adam McQuaid proved yet again that he's fearless.

9:38 a.m.: Whenever a coach gets fired in pro sports, people always throw out the old adage that "you can't fire the players." The Senators, however, are seemingly going that route this winter.

Having shipped Mike Fisher to Nashville last week, Chris Kelly to Boston on Tuesday and Jarkko Ruutu to Anaheim on Thursday, the Sens are getting rid of veteran players while keeping the same coach. Ruutu explained that coaching changes haven't helped in the past, so GM Bryan Murray is trying to simply revamp the entire roster.

"They're going young and they have to make changes by getting draft picks," Ruutu told the Ottawa Sun. "What's happening is pretty natural if you look at the standings. Coaching? If you look at it, they've made coaching changes the last couple of years, so they had to look the other way [at players]."

Murray also said that none of the traded players asked to be dealt, meaning defenseman Chris Phillips may find himself involved in a trade, whether he likes it or not.

9:36 a.m.: Alex Hemsky's name has been thrown around in trade rumors, and he upped his stock Thursday night with a pair of goals against Montreal.

Sure, one was an empty-netter, but they all count.

9:18 a.m.: This isn't trade rumor news, per se, but it's interesting nevertheless.

According to CBC.ca, about 100 counterfeit Heritage Classic jerseys have been seized by police in Calgary in advance of the game on Sunday.

9:13 a.m.: Obviously, the Bruins will need to make a move or two to clear space for Kaberle. While we've heard whispers of Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart being the parties heading out of Boston, there's yet to be anything substantial reported. Come trade deadline time, it seems the names you least expect are always the ones that get moved, while the guys you've heard about for weeks can stay put.

8:51 a.m.: Darren Dreger reported Thursday morning that a Kaberle-to-Boston deal was all but completed. Later, after Brian Burke denied that any deal was done, Dreger reported on TSN that "Burke may be talking to a number of different teams" but the Bruins remain the clear front-runners.

8 a.m.: The Tomas Kaberle rumors will finally come to an end on Friday.

Maybe.

When it comes to Kaberle and Toronto GM Brian Burke, you never really know. But based on all the scuttlebutt on Thursday, you have to think he'll work out a deal with Boston sooner rather than later.

Kaberle may be the biggest name being discussed at the moment, but that could change in an instant. Check back to this live blog throughout the day for the latest news and whispers from around the league.
