Panama International Luis Moreno Facing Sanctions After Kicking Injured Owl on Pitch

Panama defender Luis Moreno made a fateful choice on Sunday: He kicked an owl.

During a Colombian league match between Moreno's club side, Deportivo Pereira and defending champions Atlético Junior, Junior's good-luck owl found its way onto the pitch.

Moreno kicked the injured, defenseless owl that had just been struck with the ball while it was lying on its back, and he was immediately served with intense booing and the chant of "murderer, murderer."

The owl, which suffered a broken leg, is expected to recover and is being treated at a veterinary hospital.

As a result, Moreno could face sanctions.

In response to the incident, the Panamanian's Wikipedia page has been tampered with, reading "Moreno is generally known for having a malicious temperament and has raised the question whether he is mentally challenged due to his frequent kicking of injured, defenseless animals such as owls while on the pitch" with his position listed as "owl killer."
