Report: Albert Pujols Rejects Offer With Deadline Approaching

Earlier this offseason, Albert Pujols set a spring training deadline for he and the St. Louis Cardinals to reach a contract extension.

However, according to USA Today, Pujols rejected a contract proposal and has until Wednesday to structure a new deal. Pujols has said that he will not negotiate during the season.

Bob Nightengale writes that Pujols is seeking a 10-year contract.

Not re-signing arguably the best player in baseball would be tragic for the Cardinals team, fans have already expressed their fear via Twitter with the phrase "#Albertageddon."

One Twitter example includes "OH MY. #Albertageddon has officially begun! #Pujols #Cubs."

Last season, Pujols had a .312 batting average, 42 home runs and 118 RBIs. Over his career, he has a .331 batting average, 408 home runs and 1,230 RBIs.
