Trevor Bayne Races Into Record Books With Daytona 500 Victory

According to car insurance rates, 16-21 year old boys are the most dangerous drivers.

Guess that’s true in NASCAR too.

Sorry Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr. — or any other NASCAR veteran for that matter.

Rookie driver Trevor Bayne cemented a place in NASCAR folklore Sunday by winning the Daytona 500, becoming the youngest ever driver to win Daytona by five years.

Bayne celebrated his 20th birthday the day before the race and it’s hard to imagine him getting a better birthday present than a Daytona 500 victory.

The race was Bayne’s second ever NASCAR race, making the win even more surreal.

The win capped off a wild race that saw 74 lead changes, 22 different leaders and 16 cautions — all records for Daytona.
