Former Red Sox Outfielder Coco Crisp Arrested on Suspected DUI Charge

Coco Crisp is joining the ranks of professional athletes with bad mug shots.

The beloved former outfielder for the Red Sox, who currently plays for the Oakland Athletics, was arrested early Wednesday morning in Scottsdale, Ariz., on a suspected charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, The Huffington Post reports.

According to a statement from the Athletics, Crisp was released from jail in time for pre-game warm-ups prior to Oakland's matchup against the Cleveland Indians. The team refuses to discuss the issue until "further details are available."

Crisp has yet to speak to reporters about the charges.

Coco is the third major league player to be arrested during spring training so far this year. Other culprits, Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers and Austin Kearns of the Indians, both face similar DUI charges.
