Ryan Spooner Keeps Piling Up Points Retaining Top Spot Among Bruins Prospects, Jordan Caron Moves to No. 2

Having already done their shopping early, the Bruins didn't make much noise at last Monday's trade deadline. But the one move they did make might finally have given them a goaltender worthy of inclusion on the Top 10 Prospects List.

The Bruins acquired goalie Anton Khudobin from Minnesota in exchange for Providence defenseman Jeff Penner and the rights to forward Mikko Lehtonen, who is playing in Europe this season.

Khudobin instantly upgrades Providence's weakest area, giving the Baby B's a legitimate No. 1 netminder and Boston a little insurance in case any injury issues strike Tim Thomas or Tuukka Rask. Khudobin has filled in effectively in the NHL before, playing six games with the Wild in the last two years and going 4-1-0 with a 1.39 GAA, .955 save percentage and one shutout.

The Kazakhstan native has been primarily in the AHL since coming to North America, going 20-12-1 with a 2.56 GAA and .911 save percentage this year. That includes a win Friday in his Providence debut, as he stopped 25 shots in a 4-2 victory against Charlotte.

Khudobin is a free agent after the season, so he has just a few more weeks to make a case for earning a new deal from the club, and a case to crack our Top 10. As for who he'll have to pass to make the cut, here's how this week's Top 10 stacks up with a new opening created by Friday's promotion of defenseman Matt Bartkowski to the big club to replace injured blueliner Steven Kampfer in Boston.
