Canadiens Viral Rap Video Lifting Habs Fans’ Spirits As Team Faces Elimination (Video)

Here in the States, the term “Canadian rapper” is usually the punchline to a good joke.

This week in Montreal, however, a Canadiens-themed rap has hit the web and is turning into the team’s unofficial rally cry as the Habs face elimination from the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

“Sung” by people named Helena Marie and Annakin Slayd (who speaks of Max Pacioretty as if the young American winger is a distant relative of his), the rap can best be summed up by the impressive lyrics seen below:

“This one’s for the greatest fans in hockey. Just wanted to remind the haters.
77, 78, 79, 02, 04, 08
Those numbers mean anything to you Boston?
It means we’re in your head. And we always will be
MTL stand Up

Habs 4 Life, MTL forever
Montreal for life, Canadiens forever.”
