Derek Lowe Arrested, Charged With DUI, Reckless Driving

Veteran pitcher Derek Lowe was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of drunk driving, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He's been charged with DUI, reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane, according to CBS Atlanta.

The report says that Lowe was pulled over in Atlanta, and the officer "detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage." Lowe was given a field sobriety test but refused to take a breathalyzer test.

Lowe, 37, is in his third season with the Atlanta Braves and 15th season overall. He spent eight years as a member of the Red Sox, going 70-55 with 85 saves and a 3.72 ERA from 1997-2004.

A CBS Atlanta cameraman asked Lowe if he had anything to say to the Braves after leaving an Atlanta jail, and Lowe quickly responded, "No."
