Youkilis left Thursday's series opener after fouling a ball off his left shin in the first inning. He had X-rays taken, which were negative, and is listed as day-to-day.
Due to the absence of Youkilis, Jed Lowrie will get his third start at third base. Lowrie was limited to one hit in five at-bats Thursday night, somewhat off his torrid pace, but contributed with a sacrifice fly and a run scored in the 4-2 win.
Jacoby Ellsbury will be back atop the leadoff spot for the first time since April 7. He had a two-run single to get the Red Sox on the board in the opener and is hitting .186 (11-for-59) this year.
David Ortiz will make his first appearance of the season as the cleanup hitter. He is 7-for-17 (.412) with three home runs and six RBIs against Angels starter Dan Haren. Adrian Gonzalez, the No. 3 hitter again, has had the most experience against Haren, going 11-for-38 with a pair of homers vs. the righty.
