The Celtics were fearing the worst on Thursday night when big man Nenad Krstic went down with an apparent knee injury. But the C's are fortunate this time, as Krstic's injury is nothing serious. He's now listed as day-to-day with a bone bruise.
While the Celtics finished out their four-game road trip in Atlanta on Friday night, Krstic returned to Boston for an MRI on his right knee. The team feared he may have had a sprained ligament or worse, a torn ACL.
The MRI results came back Saturday, and the news was good. Krstic may return to action this week, just in time to help the Celtics close out the season.
The C's other two bigs are also coming along — Jermaine O'Neal has played 27 minutes so far in two games back from knee surgery, and Shaquille O'Neal may return either Sunday or Tuesday from his inflamed Achilles.
