Oregon High School Librarian Correctly Picks Final Four, National Championship Teams

Diana Inch knows about more than just books. She knows basketball, too — sort of.

Inch, a high school librarian from Oregon, was the big winner in Yahoo! Sports NCAA basketball bracket game, beating out three million other contestants with the best bracket, according to kptv.com. Not only did she correctly predict the Final Four teams (including long-shot Virginia Commonwealth), Inch also predicted a championship matchup between UConn and Butler.

So, how did she do it?

Inch said she didn’t study NCAA basketball statistics prior to filling out her bracket, but chose the teams based on her favorite numbers, colors and even animals.

“I wasn’t trying to win the bracket,” she told FOX-12 in Oregon. “I mean, even when you try to win the bracket, chances are you’re probably not going to.”

The high school librarian chose the Connecticut Huskies to win the national championship and won $5,000 from Yahoo! for having the best bracket.

Not a bad paycheck for someone who really likes dogs.
