Duke Rape Accuser Crystal Mangum Faces Possible Murder Charges for Allegedly Stabbing Boyfriend

It has been more then five years since the Duke University lacrosse players were falsely accused of rape by Crystal Mangum, but the former stripper is making headlines again.

According to The Associated Press, Mangum will likely face murder charges after she reportedly stabbed her boyfriend, Reginald Daye, on April 3 with a kitchen knife. North Carolina police announced on Wednesday that Daye had died from the stabbing injuries, though it was not immediately released when or how he died.

Mangum was initially charged with "with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury," and has been jailed for the incident. However, Durham police chief Jose Lopez Jr. says her charge will likely be upgraded to murder due to the recent events of the case.

This is not Mangum's first run-in with the law since the Duke lacrosse case. Just four months ago, a North Carolina jury found her guilty of misdemeanor child abuse, damaging property and resisting a public officer stemming from a February 2010 confrontation with her live-in boyfriend.

Jail officials said they were unsure if Mangum has an attorney for her upcoming trial.
