Report: Adrian Gonzalez, Red Sox Agree on Seven-Year, $154 Million Contract Extension

The Red Sox will formally announce a seven-year, $154-million extension for Adrian Gonzalez on Friday at Fenway Park, according to a report by Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com.

The deal, which has been expected since the team traded away three prospects for Gonzalez in December, comes days after Boston gave right-handed pitcher Clay Buchholz a four-year, $30 million deal.

Gonzalez, who is making $6.5 million this season, is batting .268 with a home run in his first 11 games in a Red Sox uniform. The 28-year-old will receive the ninth-largest contract in baseball history, according to McAdam.
