Pepe Reina Sounds Willing to Stay At Anfield, Looks Ahead to Next Season

Pepe Reina is looking ahead, and that's good news for Liverpool fans.

According to ESPN.com, the LFC goalkeeper plans to stay with the team through next season, but warns that he'll be gone if things start out as poorly as they did this year.

"We didn't start this season, or last, the best — and next time we need to make sure that doesn't happen," he told LFC Weekly. "We need to be consistent with the aggression, commitment — everything. And if we get the balance right, we'll be a lot closer to where we want to be."

Reina hasn't been shy expressing his feelings about transactions the club needs to make, saying management should be aggressive when acquiring key players. He also credits manager Kenny Dalglish for the team's turnaround.

"Because he was a great player himself, he understands the point of view of a player and that means he knows how to set standards," Reina said. "He makes everything much easier for us. We have improved since Kenny became manager. We have beaten the big teams. But it is important as players to repeat that in every game."

Rumors have been swirling as to whether the Reds could keep their goaltender, with Manchester City and Arsenal both showing interest.
