Falcons star and Twitter aficionado Roddy White predicted a Celtics NBA title Saturday via @RoddyWhiteTV, but that was far from his most controversial statement of 140 characters or less this weekend.
Actually, what he said wasn’t really controversial at all. We were just surprised to see somebody say it so openly.
White decided to go out on a limb and attack 49ers quarterback Alex Smith, claiming that San Francisco needs to cut ties with the draft bust if they want to move forward as a franchise.
“Why is the 49ers wasting their time with alex smith they need to move on better yet try to get luck next year would be good for them. … 2 coaches have been fired for tht mans performance,” he tweeted on Friday.
A few hours later, White decided to take back his tweet — kind of.
“Ok 49ers fans I’m sorry I take tht back alex smith is a great players and the 49ers should sign him to a 5 year deal btw I don’t have anything against alex smith wht so ever he is a great guy.”
Clearly, the All-Pro receiver has a refined sense of irony.
Smith has 51 touchdowns, 53 interceptions and a 72.1 rating since being picked first overall — ahead of Aaron Rodgers — in 2005.

“It’s not like this magic test. The test is, ‘Does it hurt?’ You run up and down the court and does it hurt? That’s the test, and can you play, and the strength tests. We’ll do those every day.”

The positive attitudes are back.
At some point, this celebration won’t end well for the Portland Timbers’ mascot.
