Colin Campbell Promises NHL Will Crack Down on Diving During Conference Finals

For whatever reason, Colin Campbell has decided it's time to take action against diving and flopping.

The NHL's senior VP, director of hockey operations and league disciplinarian told the Toronto Sun that he's tired of seeing embellishments on the ice.

"Diving is increased in the playoffs as the stakes are higher, and when players get desperate, they take their credibility and their honor and they throw it out the window," Campbell told the Sun on Saturday. "Through our supervisors, we warned all the teams not to embellish. It's becoming rampant, and we're going to start calling it. We'll ramp it up next round. You may not like it, but we'll point out the guys who we feel will embellish calls."

It's interesting timing, considering just a day later, Sharks captain Joe Thornton turned in a flop that would make even P.K. Subban blush. Still, if the league is serious about removing that element from the game, it's better late than never.

For now, though, enjoy some of the NHL's greatest hits from this year's playoffs, as well as a special blast from the past!
