Miguel Cabrera Reflects on Early Baseball Days With Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett

Miguel Cabrera is a bona fide MLB superstar, but he’ll always remember his days as a fresh-faced minor leaguer in the Florida Marlins system.

Cabrera began his minor league career in 2000, the same year as Josh Beckett and Adrian Gonzalez. The three were all in the Marlins system, with Cabrera and Gonzalez teammates on the Gulf Coast League Marlins, the Utica Blue Sox in the New York-Penn League and the Kane County Cougars of the Midwest League.

“It’s always good to see this guy and remember all the things we did back in the day,” Cabrera told Heidi Watney on Red Sox GameDay Live. “We’re good friends. Every time we get a chance to keep in touch, we keep in touch. We spent a lot of times in the minor leagues, so it’s good to see one of my best friends.”
