Liverpool may have been recently linked to West Brom midfielder Chris Brunt, but according to former Anfield boss and current Baggies manager Roy Hodgson, the versatile midfielder won't be going anywhere.
According to Metro, Hodgson considers West Brom to be a club that just doesn't let big clubs raid them for under-contract players.
"I don't need assurances. I don't need them. They're under contract," he said, according to the report. "I know from past experience of trying to get Jonathan Greening out of West Brom that the chairman is very keen on keeping the players that he wants to keep and who are under contract."
Hodgson is so confident, in fact, that he hasn't even discussed the potential transfer with chairman Jeremy Pearce.
"I don't need assurances," he said. "I've never even broached the subject with him. "The battle for Greening made me realize that West Brom don't release players they don't want to let go."
Brunt, who is a free-kick specialist and can play just about anywhere in midfield, was named captain at the Hawthorns in 2011. He has scored four goals while tallying nine assists for West Brom this season, and he is valued at approximately £6 million.
