Source: NFL Teams Tampering With Undrafted Free Agents

Every single NFL team knows it's not supposed to have any contact with undrafted free agents during the lockout.

Those teams just don't really care.

One agent told NESN.com he has been contacted by 11 or 12 teams that were interested in signing undrafted free agents. The agent said he has already reached four deals with teams.

Those teams, in the truest sense of the word, are tampering.

"They just don't care," the agent said. "It's business as usual. It's wink-wink, hush-hush, 'We never had this conversation.'"

Teams are doing this to expedite the process once the league year begins. With the expectation that the majority of the league is partaking in this practice, teams just don't want to get burned by a player they want to bring into camp, and it's like the Wild West with undrafted free agents.

One of the agent's players was even offered a $25,000 signing bonus, which is an uncommonly high amount for an undrafted free agent, presumably to keep that player out of a market that isn't supposed to exist.
